There are few words that can describe having someone in your life who literally understands every piece of your heart, even the ones you don’t understand yourself. Sometimes, we lose ourselves in distress and negativity, and need someone to pull us from the darkness, into the light of a friendship that transcends anything and everything we’ve ever known. To have someone there for you at the drop of a hat, to read something from them that makes your whole day turn around for the better, and to share laughs that brings tears to your happiness, and when those tears are seeds of sadness, they are there to wipe them away. You never know how lucky you are to have someone like that in your life, someone without complication that literally defines the meaning of a friend. A best friend.
Terrence is my best friend. Our friendship sprouted from a random-stance and is now the very foundation that keeps me together in the worse of times. I know exactly who I can turn to when there’s no one else to go to. You take me at my worse and help me remember my best. You encourage me to do what my heart tells me and slap me when I’m on a tangent about needless things. I can search my soul for days for an answer and have you say the words that have jumbled in my head for the longest time for me to finally understand. It seriously is amazing to have someone so close to you, to have a best friend who can make you laugh and cry, yell and whine, and bring out the better part of you that you sometimes forget about.
Terr… thank you for being my best friend, and thank you for always standing by my side, even when I didn’t want anyone there. Even now, with my heart healing and taking things a step at a time, I know I’ll never be alone with you by my side. And I’ll always be by yours.
